ALBERTA MEDICAL ASSOCIATION (AMA) ACCEPTS WRONGDOING
OF THE COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS & SURGEONS OF ALBERTA (CPSA) &
WRONGDOING OF THE HEALTH QUALITY COUNCIL OF ALBERTA (HQCA)

Dr. Patrick White (President of the AMA) sent the following letter to Dr. Douglas Anderson
dated July 21, 2011:

" I was asked to respond to your registered mail package containing letters about your concerns with the functioning of the College of Physicians & Surgeons and the Alberta Government. The Alberta Medical Association does not have the mandate to follow up on your request. Accordingly, we are returning your correspondence".


The letterhead on AMA stationery states " PATIENTS FIRST " Registered Trade Mark.
This means PATIENTS NEEDS SUPERSEDE - AMA needs; CPSA needs; HQCA needs
                                                                                  & Stelmach Government needs.
The Website of the AMA states:

VISION:  Patients First .  Patients First compels the AMA to advocate "value to patients".
                  Value for Patients - Registered Trade Mark  expresses a 365-day-a-year commitment to pursue
                  and support ideas and initiatives that provide real value for our patients.
ROLE: The AMA makes every effort to ensure physicians are involved in the health care 
              decision-making and their voices are heard - by government, Alberta Health Services,
              other health care professionals and the public. Communication is a priority internally 
              with members as well as externally with government and the public.


It is obvious that the concerns of all Albertans on the wrongdoing of the CPSA and HQCA fall within the "Mandate" of the AMA.

Dr. Anderson's letter to Dr. White darted June 27, 2011 states:

"I am a retired Ophthalmologist having conducted my surgery in Edmonton for over 30 years before retirement. I am very concerned about the wrongdoing of the CPSA and the HQCA. I have been STONEWALLED by the Stelmach Government and the HQCA. In January 2011, I established a Blog Site to record this wrongdoing:

I suggest that the AMA review my private files on the wrongdoing of the CPSA which I am happy to release on loan.  Would you kindly obtain answers to my questions directed to Dr. J. Cowell (CEO-HQCA) and Dr. L. Tyrrell
(CHAIR-HQCA)  as both of these doctors refuse to correspond with me.
It is clear that the HQCA is not a suitable body to expose the ills of the Health Care System of Alberta.  An Open Public Judicial Inquiry is essential. I look forward to your reply to this letter and trust that you are able to obtain answers from 
Drs. Cowell & Tyrrell to my questions".


Addressing and trying to solve serious wrongdoing within the Health Care System of Alberta is certainly within the "Mandate" of the Alberta Medical Association and should be pursued promptly.

Would Dr. Patrick White, President of the Alberta Medical Association, please put
" PATIENTS  FIRST " and provide Albertans with a reply to this letter and Blog Posting.

Dr. Anderson sent a Registered Letter to Dr. White on July 27 with a copy of the current Blog Posting -
" AMA Accepts Wrongdoing of Medics " enclosed.
