WHO DOES THE C.P.S.A. PROTECT?


There is a serious problem with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) that Dr. Anderson has tried to have addressed by the Stelmach Government without success since June 29/07.
(letter from Dr. Anderson to Hon. Dave Hancock, Minister of Health & Wellness).

There is clear evidence that the CPSA has protected its medical doctor members at the expense of protecting the public.

The Stelmach Government has "STONEWALLED" Dr. Anderson for over three and a half years and has taken no action to address this serious problem. This is clearly evident in Dr. Anderson's three documents:

1. " Ministers of Stelmach Government Refuse to Answer Surgeon's Questions "(March 2010).
2. " The Anderson Journal on Hon. Dave Hancock " (July 2008).
3. " Addendum to the Anderson Journal on Hon. Dave Hancock "(Oct. 2008)

Albertans have been neglected by several Health Care Authorities -

THE COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS & SURGEONS OF ALBERTA
(Will be explored fully in future Blog entries)
- Registrar (Dr. T. Theman) - refuses to meet with Dr. Anderson; stated his refusal to correspond with
  Dr. Anderson; no observable action to deal with incompetent investigation.
- Council: - accepted incompetent investigation and refused to deal with the college employees who
                   were responsible.

HEALTH QUALITY COUNCIL OF ALBERTA
(Will be explored fully in future Blog entries)
- "The HQCA is not in a position to comment" - on Document 1.
- Dr. J. Cowell (CEO) & Dr. L. Tyrrell (Chair) refuse to meet with Dr. Anderson to discuss necessary
  reforms to the CPSA to avoid future incompetent investigations of patients complaints.
-Dr. Cowell has informed Dr. Anderson that the HQCA will cease correspondence with him.

ALBERTA HEALTH SERVICES
(will be exploring fully in future Blog entries)
- Mr. K. Hughes (Chair) has forwarded Document 1 to the current Deputy Minister of Health & Wellness (Mr. J. G. Ramotar) for action, even though this document has been ignored by the previous two ministers of Health & Wellness and their deputies as well as Premier Stelmach himself.

In addition to the above four Health Care Authorities there is another problem -
MR. JUSTICE R. G. STEVENS - (Queen's Bench for Alberta)
Justice Stevens refuses to make personal contact with Dr. Anderson to explain why he failed to acknowledge receipt of several Registered Letters sent to him by Dr. Anderson concerning Patient Neglect & Needless Suffering when he was Minister of Justice in the Stelmach Government.


A copy of Document 1 follows - "Ministers of Stelmach Government Refuse to Answer Surgeon's Questions". The Stelmach Government does not recognize that the CPSA conducted a totally flawed and incompetent investigation of a patient complain and submitted lies to justify the closing of this patient's file.  How many patient files were closed prior to this and how many will be closed in the future with this same level of incompetence?

                  MINISTERS OF STELMACH GOVERNMENT
                                   REFUSE TO ANSWER
                               SURGEON'S  QUESTIONS

Two ministers of Health & Wellness in the Stelmach Government along with their deputies have refused to even acknowledge receipt of numerous registered letters concerning Patient Neglect & Needless Suffering, yet alone discuss the serious contents of these letters.  These letters were sent to the following persons from Dr. Douglas L. Anderson (an active ophthalmic surgeon in Edmonton for over 30 years before retirement):

                 Dave Hancock & deputy Ms. P. Meade

                 Ron Liepert & deputy Ms. L. Miller

Unfortunately the former Minister of Justice, Ron Stevens also refused to acknowledge receipt of several registered letters sent to him by Dr. Anderson concerning Patient Neglect & Needless Suffering and did not answer important questions.

Premier Stelmach ignored numerous Registered Letters sent to him by Dr. Anderson concerning the above neglect by his ministers. (Addendum to The Anderson Journal on Hon. Dave Hancock-Oct/08)

Albertans consider it a basic courtesy to at least acknowledge receipt of important correspondence.

Dr. Anderson presented four important questions to all of the above individuals but no one in the Stelmach Government will address them. The questions are:

1. Would you please confirm for me my understanding that the Government of Alberta has the ultimate & final responsibility & authority of assuring that all Albertans receive the best possible health care?

2. Why did it take five months of receiving numerous registered letters concerning Patient Neglect & Needless Suffering, before the Dept. of Health & Wellness (Minister Dave Hancock) was stimulated to contact Dr. Anderson?

3. Are the Senior Staff Doctors of the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta and the Medical Doctors serving on the Council of  the College, "Regulated Members" of the College?

4. Why was Ms. P. Meade appointed to HEAD the new Health Super board after she demonstrated clearly unethical & irresponsible performance while serving as Deputy Minister of Health & Wellness?

This behavior of the Stelmach Government is a blatant affront to democracy.  This appalling behavior demands public exposure and correction.
