FAILURE TO SELF-REGULATE
Failure of Professional Bodies to Self-Regulate is explored by Canadian Medical Association Journal - " CAN PHYSICIANS REGULATE THEMSELVES?" - ( CMAJ MAR 15, 2005 172 6 717 ). This exploration concludes with the statement " Confidence in physicians is at the core of what we do. We need strong licensing and regulatory bodies, and we need to step up implementation of clinical governance structures whose mandate includes fostering a climate of openness & accountability. Otherwise someone will do it for us".
This concluding statement certainly applies to the Law Society of Alberta for its failure to Self-Regulate its Alberta Lawyers.
